Apple Crisp
A quick and easy dessert that makes use of any apples you have on hand.
Ingredients
Filling
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1-inch chunks (about 5 cups)
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 4 tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
Topping
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a baking dish and set aside
- In a large bowl, combine filling ingredients and spread in the baking dish
- In medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Using a pastry cutter, cut in the butter until mixture is crumbly. Stir in the oats.
- Sprinkle topping over filling and bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden and the apple juices are bubbling around the edges.
- Cool on wire rack for at least 5 minutes before serving with fresh whipped cream or ice cream
