Apple Crisp

A quick and easy dessert that makes use of any apples you have on hand.

Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1-inch chunks (about 5 cups)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Topping

  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup old fashioned oats

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a baking dish and set aside
  • In a large bowl, combine filling ingredients and spread in the baking dish
  • In medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Using a pastry cutter, cut in the butter until mixture is crumbly. Stir in the oats.
  • Sprinkle topping over filling and bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden and the apple juices are bubbling around the edges.
  • Cool on wire rack for at least 5 minutes before serving with fresh whipped cream or ice cream
