Egg Roll in a Bowl

There are many recipes out there for this tasty combination of all the goodness of an eggroll filling. This is my adaptation.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 medium carrots, cut into matchsticks
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 4-5 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 2 green onion, sliced
  • sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet, cook ground pork over medium-high heat. Drain; remove from skillet.
  • To skillet add diced onion, carrots, sesame oil and vinegar. Cook until onion is tender.
  • Return pork to pan, add garlic, ginger, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and cabbage. Cook stirring for 5-8 minutes or until cabbage is wilted.
  • Remove skillet from heat and stir in green onions. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.

Notes

  • I’ve made this with both ground pork and ground beef.  Ground chicken or turkey would also work.
  • You can substitute another oi, but sesame oil will really give it that great egg roll taste
