Yankee Cornbread
Southerners will argue that this isn't real cornbread since it includes sugar. I only like my cornbread sweet so that's the way I make it.
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup canola oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of a 9-inch cake pan.
- In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Pour into prepared pan,
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes clean
- Let cool 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
