Chocolate Krispy Treats
Leftover chocolate krispy cereal combined with extra chocolate and marshmallow yields a gooey, rich treat.
Ingredients
- 6 ounces butter
- 16 ounces mini marshmallows, divided
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 13 ounces chocolate krispy cereal (see note)
Instructions
- Divide marshmallows. Place 10 ounces in a large bowl–reserve the rest. Butter a 9" x13" pan and set aside.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add 10 oz of marshmallows and stir until melted.
- Add chocolate chips and cocoa powder. Mix until fully melted. Add rice and reserved marshmallows. Mix until cereal is well coated.
- Press into prepared pan and spread evenly with hand or spatula. Cover and let cool for one hour before cutting into bars.
Notes
- Adapted from Confessions of a Baking Queen
- You can use any chocolate rice cereal, but I prefer Mom’s Best Crispy Cocoa Rice made with no artificial flavors.
- Surprisingly these freeze well. Cut into individual bars and wrap in foil. Place foil wrapped treats in a plastic freezer bag and freeze for up to one month. Thaw at room temperature for 30 minutes.
